On Tuesday morning, Diane von Furstenberg got us in the spirit of the festive season by unveiling the Christmas tree she designed for Claridge’s Hotel in London. She named the magical creation the “Tree of Love” – as love and life are recurring themes for her.
The metallic sculpture features over 8,000 hand-painted silver-leaf leaves and 150 hand-blown glass hearts. The surrounding walls were hand-painted with zodiac motifs by illustrator Kostantinos Kakanias.
“The tree is everything,” said the CFDA Chairwoman, who loves trees because, “Its roots come from the earth, and branches extend to the sky. Its flowers become fruits and the color of the leaves reveal the seasons. Home to the birds, it provides shade for the children to play and shelter to lovers..It is the symbol of strength and life… and life is love…”
Happy holidays!
