Danielle Frankel Reimagines Birkenstock Icons in Bridal-Inspired Collaboration

January 28, 2026

CFDA member Danielle Hirsch Frankel brings her distinct bridal sensibility to one of fashion’s most enduring footwear brands with a new limited-edition collaboration with Birkenstock.

Unveiled in Paris and New York this January, the capsule merges the German shoemaker’s 250-year heritage with Frankel’s modern, romantic design language, offering a refined reimagining of comfort, craftsmanship, and occasion dressing.

The collection features four reworked classics alongside two exclusive, customizable styles designed solely for Danielle Frankel: a hand-painted Boston clog and an Arizona sandal embroidered with wispy chiffon blooms.

Produced using couture-level techniques from Frankel’s New York City atelier, these designs represent the most elevated expression of the partnership.

A longtime Birkenstock customer, the CFDA member approached the collaboration as a thoughtful study of the brand’s extensive archive of more than 700 silhouettes. Handworked cording, sumptuous pearls, and refined trims add romantic nuance, while a bespoke floral motif debossed into the sole serves as a signature imprint of the designer’s whimsical spirit.

Captured in Paris by photographer Stas Komarovski, the campaign unfolds in an intimate salon setting, pairing the footwear with Danielle Frankel’s sculptural bridal gowns. Cinematic in tone and rich in detail, the imagery reinforces the collaboration’s ethos: a meeting of heritage and modernity, where ease and elegance coexist.
