That the selfie is a favorite form of expression is no secret. Case in point, Monday night‘s CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Instagram Cocktail. Hosted by Eva Chen, Sally Singer, Zendaya and past L.A.-based Fashion Fund finalists, the crowd on the roof terrace of NeueHouse took selfies as if it were a competitive sport. There was Instagram’s Chen, gathering several of the guests including Kelly Rohrbach for a group selfie. Finalists Raul Arevalo and Brad Schmidt of Cadet posed with Chanel Iman and Chrissy Teigen, and then with John Legend for a second selfie. “I have no shame,” Schmidt said, with a smile.

Earlier in the evening, members of the CVFF Selection Committee – including Steven Kolb, Jenna Lyons, Ken Downing, Reed Krakoff and Mark Holgate -judged the results of the CVFF Los Angeles Instagram Challenge. In partnership with Instagram, each finalist was asked to concept and execute a 15-second video that distills and communicates their brand DNA with an eye to Los Angeles.
At the cocktail party, these shorts were projected against a wall for the crowd — among them Greg Chait, Jennifer Meyer, Irene Neuwirth, Clare Vivier, Sophie Buhai, and Jasmin Shokrian – to enjoy. Next stop, the Chateau Marmont for the finalists’ fashion show.
