Cushnie Bridal Fall-Winter 2019

Carly Cushnie is loving the single life (professionally speaking). Now that she is fully in charge of the rebranded Cushnie label as CEO, the designer added a collaboration with Lee Body Optix, introduced a new line of bags, and, on Thursday, presented the first Cushnie bridal collection.

“I felt there was a place in the market for a collection that was very clean and modern, but still elegant. One that catered to a woman who wants pieces you can wear not only day-of, but also at the rehearsal or engagement party and the reception,” Cushnie said during her showroom presentation.

It’s a woman that Cushnie knows well, having spent years designing wedding dresses for close family and friends (and herself as a bride) –all of which bear the same Cushnie DNA that is equal parts sexy and sophisticated.

Indeed, there was no shortage of options – or silhouettes, or necklines – as Cushnie created a lineup stacked with her signature unfussy separates familiar to those who know and love the kind that has been propelling her ready-to-wear for a decade and counting.

All are promised to fit the ever-expanding list of scenarios that will only continue to fill the Cushnie bride’s getting-married calendar (and then some). The first sign of proof already came when Cushnie’s handbag designer just couldn’t wait to wear the flutter-sleeve style for her recent nuptials in New York.

“My dresses don’t wear the woman,” the designer offered. “The woman shines through, too.”
