Entering the Collina Strada show felt a lot like arriving at a Barry’s Bootcamp class. Dark rooms with bright lights and loud music set the scene. The show venue, dubbed ‘Collina’s Gym,’ was based around the celebration of feminine power. Designer Hilary Taymour recognized that the femme body and mind have long been shaped by the imagination of men, and Taymour wanted to celebrate and redefine femininity. Models went down the runway flexing while holding dumbbells, weights – even babies — in classic Collina Strada pieces that were elegantly beefed up. Sculptural silhouettes were crafted from deadstock fabrics and supplemented with classic UGGS and PUMA shoes from their upcoming collaboration. Femme, Taymour proved, is indeed a flex.
