Mike Amiri is dreaming of his city Los Angeles. In the wake of devastating fires, the CFDA member takes Paris Fashion Week to his reimagined version of the city’s nightlife peopled by its unique characters, and encapsulating the unmistakable spirit of LA, which always inspires.
“Hollywood is where you go to dream, where people go to build, and to rebuild. That’s the nature of the city of Los Angeles,” Amiri said. “This collection is a homage to Hollywood and to Los Angeles, a celebration of the city I call home. A collection filled with optimism, dreams and love.”
Womenswear was presented alongside menswear in a dressed-up, elevated and refined American ease nostalgic of the early ’60s and ’70s: slick tailoring and knotted neckties for him and her. The palette is delicate and muted, with merlot burgundies and greens, golden espresso browns (timely as mocha brown is Pantone color of the year), mint and gilt. Eyewear is a new addition, in acetate with golden Art Deco-inspired detailing like jewelry; women’s handbags expand, debuting a selection of evening-focused East-West clutches.
Drawing inspiration from interiors of iconic Hollywood locales, like the Formosa Café or lobby of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the collection brings a cinematic mood not only to the collection, but also amongst the AMIRI community sitting in the audience.
Even if just for a second, everyone is tapped into the CFDA member’s Hollywood dream, and we’re all dreaming with him.
