“Some of the most visually arresting campaigns come out of the fashion industry,” said Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA. “By partnering with Clio, we can help identify and celebrate those campaigns as we kick off this exciting partnership.”
Kolb was making the announcement on stage at the Clio Awards Wednesday, addressing a crowd pf creative leaders in advertising, branding, fashion, music, and more at the American Museum of Natural History – including quite a few friends of the CFDA. On behalf of Laird + Partners, Trey Laird, with Nile Rodgers at his side, accepted the award in the Fashion: Prestige: Integrated Campaign category for Tom Ford’s Digital Fashion Presentation directed by Nick Night and featuring Lady Gaga and a gaggle of models. Mario Testino took home the Clio Fashion & Beauty Lifetime Achievement Award. Testino brought along Graydon Carter, who presented him with the award; Amber Valletta, who starred in a humorous – and stylized – video introducing the photographer; Paul Cavaco, Stephen Gan, and Rachel Feinstein and John Currin. Awards also went to Baz Luhrmann and Linda Kaplan Thaler among others, and Andra Day and Montell Jordan (of This is How We Do It fame) performed.
This marked the first time Clio Fashion & Beauty joined the main Clio Awards. Kolb added, “With a dream team of fashion and beauty professionals to judge the work, Clio has identified the best creative, and talent, behind the promotion of the world’s most revered brands.”
