City Insider: London with Misha Nonoo

January 13, 2017

Though Bahrain-born, Misha Nonoo spent her formative years in London, a city she called home until she packed her bags and left for New York after university to start a fashion career. Nonoo’s British roots are hard to miss, from the charming accent and her adorable puppy Thatcher (guess who the Cavapoo is named after?) to her chic personal style. Here, she shares some insider tips on the British capital.

FAVORITE THING: The whitewashed townhouses, the museums and galleries, and the historic aspect of the city.

LEAST FAVORITE THING: The crowding on the tube, and the time it takes to get from one side of the city to the other, especially as half of your friends are always likely to live on the opposite side of town.

MUST DO: I love shopping on Kings Road and at the major department stores like Harrods, Harvey Nichols, and Liberty. I like visiting Sloane Square and hopping on a Boris Bike to cycle around the city’s parks. London has some of the most beautiful parks, all over the city. One of my favorites is Regents Park and its lovely rose garden.

MUST SEE: I always enjoy taking in the art at the Saatchi and Serpentine galleries, fawning over the costume collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum, and standing in awe of the stunning Somerset House.

WHERE TO EAT: The Ivy Chelsea Garden, Cheyne Walk Brasserie, Fischer’s, NOPI, and Chiltern Firehouse.

WHERE TO CHILL: Zefi on Walton street, Claridge’s for a cup of tea, Bishops Park in Fulham, and the National Portrait Gallery.

BEST STREET STYLE: Shoreditch, Hoxton, and Brixton are home to some of the most interesting street style sightings. If you’re after a more preppy look, you’ll find those outfits in Chelsea, Kings Road, or Knightsbridge.

ON MISSING LONDON: My friends, of course! Also, the fact that you can get into a black cab and have nothing but a street name and the driver will take you to the exact location.
