Six years after the iconic Christian Roth eyewear brand was acquired by DITA Group, Christian Roth and his partner Eric Domège have stepped down. They had served as exclusive design consultants for the brand since the acquisition.
“We are sad for the ending of this amazing chapter but maintain an immense amount of pride for our legacy of work and excitedly welcome the opportunity for change and newness.” said Domège, who had co-founded Christian Roth Eyewear in 1983. “We look forward to staying close to DITA and their brands. Our four decades of experience and passion to create for the luxury eyewear industry will allow us to consult on design, marketing, and brand positioning under our Miami-based Optical Affairs.”
For almost four decades, Roth, who is a CFDA member, and Domège have built their top-notch reputation as designers who subvert the conventions of luxury fashion. Throughout the heady fashion days on the 1980s and 1990s, they created custom runway frames for such brands as Chloé, Helmut Lang, Isaac Mizrahi, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, and Rifat Ozbek, and also worked with Michael Kors and Karl Lagerfeld.
“DITA is extremely proud of having Christian Roth in our portfolio of brands,” said DITA Eyewear owner Micky Dhillon. “We look forward to maintaining an ongoing relationship with Christian and Eric, who we consider close friends and family of DITA.”
