New York Fashion Week officially starts on Friday, September 8th, and as we approach the new season, we’d like to remind all stakeholders —fashion brands, production houses, event planners, PR agencies, and others—to approach the week with a more conscious awareness of the environment. Please recycle and reduce waste, reuse materials, and conserve energy where possible to allow us to move towards a more sustainable fashion week. Learn more in the comprehensive Executive Summary and Report on the environmental impact of NYFW as well as a Playbook for Positive Change developed with Boston Consulting Group.
The CFDA would also like to remind you of our recommendations developed in partnership with IMG’s Health and Safety guidance for holding in-person shows, presentations, and events.
We continue to monitor the rising Covid-19 cases and suggest following CDC, New York State and New York City guidelines. We encourage all fashion week stakeholders to get vaccinated, be tested regularly, monitor symptoms and stay home if exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19.
Even as we see fewer face coverings, we encourage attendees to wear masks indoors, with the exception of designated drinking or eating areas and for models who are walking on the runway. Additionally, always please consider our Initiative for Health, Safety, and Diversity. Click here to read more.
We pride ourselves on the diversity of our industry and our mutual respect. The CFDA has zero tolerance for any form of bigotry and hate.
We wish you a successful New York Fashion Week ahead.
Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA
