The past year had some low moments we’d rather not remember – the Barneys New York bankruptcy, Zac Posen shuttering his business, and the closing down of Calvin Klein’s iconic Madison Avenue flagship as the brand moved away from the Collection business. But we hate to dwell on the past, so as we look to this exciting New Year, we see room for new opportunities. In this challenging retail climate – especially for department stores, once the bread and butter of American fashion businesses — we hope for plenty of new avenues of growth for designers to allow them to flourish.
