On Wednesday morning, the David Zwirner gallery hosted a private CFDA viewing of the Yayoi Kusama Festival of Life exhibition. Odds are that even the art novice has already seen glimpses of Kusama’s work on social media. The highly-Instagrammable exhibits provide an interactive space that encompasses entire rooms, literally drawing the audience into the center of the piece. David Zwirner dedicated four rooms to Kusama’s work, of which two – the Infinity Mirror Rooms – are making their debut. Attending CFDA members included Danielle Snyder and Jodie Snyder Morel of Dannijo, Jonathan Meizler of title of work, Leigh Plessner of Catbird, and Amy Chan of Amy 8 Chan, among others.

“It’s quite inspirational,” said Chan while taking in With All My Love For The Tulips, I Pray Forever (2011), a white room covered in large red polka-dots with two large-scale tulip sculptures. “The way the dots are presented—the repetition and the scale of it—it conjures up so many different feelings. Circles have always been a big part of my life.”

“We’re so inspired by her color and shapes,” added Jodi Snyder Morel.

Festival of Life can be viewed at David Zwirner until December 16, 2017.
