On this day 16 years ago, New York City was struck by an act of terrorism the world will never forget.
It was the Tuesday of New York Fashion Week – the morning after an unforgettable Marc Jacobs show and party, during the Liz Lange show, and just before Oscar de la Renta – that the first of two planes hit the Twin Towers.
Today, as we do every year, the CFDA would like to honor the victims of the attacks and mark the importance of the day that changed the course of history, and will forever be linked with the September shows. As our Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg put it: “We rebuilt. We are resilient. But we don’t forget. We remember.”
