Bridging the gap between manufacturer and designer is a core goal of CFDA’s Fashion Manufacturing Initiative (FMI), a program that has invested technology, workforce development and education to local manufacturers in NYC since 2013.
The CFDA has partnered with Maker’s Row, the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Google on a seven-part series highlighting NYC-based fashion designers, their success and how local manufacturing has been an important aspect of each company’s rise.
Follow Matthew Burnett, Cofounder and CEO of Maker’s Row, as he follows brands Bode, Carlos Campos, Catbird, Gigi Burris Millinery, Haus Alkire, and WHIT and uncovers unique stories from each on what it means to be a creative and an entrepreneur in New York City.
Additionally, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen and CFDA’s Steven Kolb sat down to discuss local manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and the importance of the fashion industry within NYC.
The Makers Row + New York City series can be found exclusively on the CFDA’s YouTube channel, and here. Click to watch each episode!
