Awards season is in full swing, and in honor of our new CFDA Loves the Red Carpet shop at Fred Segal on Sunset Boulevard, we asked Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs of Cushnie et Ochs on their favorite red carpet moments and more.
What do you love the most about the Awards season?
Cushnie: All of the head to toe glam on so many fabulous women.
Ochs: Celebrating a lineup of amazing women, in beautiful dresses.
Looking back, which is your all-time favorite red carpet moment and what do you love about it?
Cushnie: Hilary Swank at the 2005 Oscar Awards. Sleek and timeless – she was a total knockout.
Ochs: Emma Stone at the 2015 SAG Awards. It was a breath of fresh air and so interesting to see a young actress be confident to try a non-traditional silhouette.
This awards season, who is the one celebrity you think would look amazing in your designs?
Cushnie: Mary J. Blige
Ochs: Amal Clooney
What is the favorite item from your collection in the CFDA Shop? What was the inspiration behind this particular look and is there a special story behind it?
Cushnie: My favorite piece is the Graphite One-Shoulder Gown from our Resort 2018 Collection. It’s slinky with a custom hardware piece at the neckline – it gives seriously sultry red carpet vibes.
Ochs: My favorite piece is the triangular MAX clutch. It’s architectural and offers a structural take on the classic evening bag. The clean lines and geometric shape really embody the DNA of Cushnie et Ochs.
