Celebrities typically talk about their dress and jewelry on the red carpet, but less so about their underwear – though could very well an equally important element. After all, the comfort it provides can inspire confidence. To that end, and as part of our series around the CFDA Loves the Red Carpet shop at Fred Segal on Sunset Boulevard, we asked Commando Founder Kerry O’ Brien about the red carpet and the favorites from her collection at Fred Segal.
What do you love the most about the Awards season?
Well, first and foremost, I love seeing so many talented actresses being recognized, celebrated, and empowered. This year’s shows are about so much more than what women are wearing, and that’s wonderful. Having said that, we are in the fashion industry, and I still adore that aspect of the shows. Personally, I am so proud that so many women choose to wear Commando simply because they love how it looks and feels.
Looking back, which is your all-time favorite red carpet moment and what do you love about it?
Well, my recent favorite was from this year’s Golden Globes— Kate Hudson looked absolutely amazing. And she was wearing our brief with that gorgeous Valentino dress.
This awards season, who is the one celebrity you think would look amazing in your designs?
We’re honored when every celebrity wears us! Commando has always been about making women feel beautiful and confident. That goes for the famous and the not-so-famous alike!
What is the favorite item from your collection in the CFDA Shop? What was the inspiration behind this particular look and is there a special story behind it?
Our leggings launch has been a huge hit for us, and everyone loves wearing them. They are sleek, comfortable, and make you feel like a rock star. While they are more for watching the awards shows than attending them, I bet Bella [Hadid] could manage to somehow make them a red carpet look!
