Wear it, post it, tag it
In time for New York Fashion Week: Women’s, we are excited to unveil our collaboration with Planned Parenthood to launch the Fashion Stands with Planned Parenthood campaign with a special pin to raise awareness and support for the critical health care that the organization’s centers provide and the millions of Americans it serves each year.
“We are truly thrilled by the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s show of support for Planned Parenthood at New York Fashion Week,” said Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. “Planned Parenthood has stood defiantly in the face of opposition for a century, and we’re not backing down now. The American people overwhelmingly support our organization and strongly oppose ‘defunding’ care at our health centers. Planned Parenthood’s millions of supporters, including the CFDA, are mobilizing to protect access to reproductive health and rights for everyone, including the 2.5 million patients we serve, and we will continue to fight to ensure that all people can get the care they need.”
CFDA President and CEO Steven Kolb added, “Civic responsibility is an important CFDA pillar. Defunding Planned Parenthood will impact millions of Americans. We will raise awareness and support this fashion week and show that Fashion Stands with Planned Parenthood.”
The pins, designed by The Creative Group, Conde Nast, are being distributed to participating designers, PR agencies, modeling agencies, creative agencies, fashion week locations, industry influencers and press attending NYFW: Women’s, which kicks off Thursday.
CFDA worked with Board Member Tracy Reese to encourage designers to proudly wear the pin on their final walk, place it on one or more models in their show, and distribute them to all front row attendees as well as their front-of-house staff.
“We know that so many people stand with Planned Parenthood– including designers and entertainers– because they and their loved ones have relied on Planned Parenthood for health care, including life-saving care like cancer screenings, birth control, STI testing and treatment and sex education,” Tracy Reese said. “Planned Parenthood is often the only option for this type of care in underserved communities. By creating a visually engaging and fashionable pin, we hope to create an organic social media movement promoting awareness and education.”
Each pin will be accompanied with an information card that outlines Planned Parenthood’s services and actions everyone can take to get involved and stand with Planned Parenthood.
More than 40 designers and brands are participating, including Diane von Furstenberg, Cushnie et Ochs, Public School, Jonathan Simkhai, kate spade new york, Rosetta Getty, Proenza Schouler, Mara Hoffman, Narciso Rodriguez, Milly, Prabal Gurung, Tory Burch, and Zac Posen.
We encourage everyone to take a picture wearing the pin, and share it with their followers using the hashtag #IStandwithPP.
