The 2019 CFDA Fashion Awards celebrated excellence in sartorial innovation, but as previous years have shown, the red carpet also brought out equally show-stopping beauty looks. This evening was no different, as transformative hair and makeup reigned supreme. 

Fashion Icon of the Year award recipient Jennifer Lopez took to a Ralph Lauren crop top that put her toned midriff front and center, while her power ponytail turned heads both coming and going. Meanwhile, actress Yara Shahidi made her CFDA Fashion Awards debut with a gravity-defying braided updo—the perfect dramatic twist to offset her more relaxed Monse trousers. Similarly, model Winnie Harlow played with beauty juxtapositions: futuristic graphic wings of white liner peeked out from underneath blunt bangs and a chin-grazing bob with a retro flip. Elsewhere, color ran wild. Elsa Hosk swiped on a neon-pink lip to complete a head-to-toe statement matched to her pointed toe pumps. While Shailene Woodley traced on a fluoro-bright orange eye pigment that popped against her freshly-scrubbed skin and, of course, an all-black ensemble.
