CFDA and Frazier Family Foundation Announce Empowered Vision Award Finalists

November 4, 2024

CFDA and the Frazier Family Foundation are thrilled to announce the three finalists for the Empowered Vision Award, an initiative dedicated to supporting emerging Black designers through a $100,000 financial grant and a year-long mentorship program valued at an additional $100,000. This award seeks to foster innovation and promote equity in the fashion industry by providing Black designers with essential resources to expand their brands and compete on a global stage.

The three finalists — Aisling Camps, Rachel Scott of Diotima, and Charles Harbison of Harbison — have demonstrated the creativity, resilience, and vision that the Empowered Vision Award was created to champion. Each designer brings a unique perspective, blending identity, artistry, and forward-thinking into collections that redefine the possibilities within fashion.

Members of the 2024 Selection Committee are:

  • Alastair McKimm (Fashion Stylist, Creative Director, Design Consultant)
  • Carlos Nazario (Style Director at Large, Harper’s Bazaar US)
  • Corey Stokes (Creative Director)
  • Diane von Furstenberg (Founder, Philanthropist, and Author)
  • Emilie Rubinfeld (President, Carolina Herrera)
  • Shiona Turini (Fashion Consultant, Stylist, and Costume Designer)
  • Stephanie Horton (Global Consumer Marketing Director, Google)
  • Walter Frye (Chief Brand Officer, Amazon)

In addition to financial support, the Empowered Vision Award offers invaluable resources for emerging Black designers to scale their businesses and gain traction in the global fashion economy. The winning designer will receive personalized guidance in brand development, production strategy, and market positioning—support that aims to ensure a lasting impact.

The winner of the Empowered Vision Award will be announced at a reception and cocktail event on November 14.

Announced on October 18, 2024, the Empowered Vision Award was launched in partnership between the Andréa W. and Kenneth C. Frazier Family Foundation and the CFDA, represented by James Frazier, to help address systemic barriers in the fashion industry. The award provides a financial grant and mentorship program with the aim to bridge the gaps that have historically limited opportunities for Black designers. This comprehensive initiative was created to promote both creative and business growth, helping designers increase profitability within their brands.
