The Ritz Paris has seen many well known faces in its halls – Coco Chanel and Ernest Hemingway even have suites named after them. But in Friday night, the grand staircases and sweeping marble facades welcomed some new faces. This season’s Americans in Paris designers were feted at an elegant affair hosted by Taylor Hill, Tumi’s Michael Petry and Vogue’s Selby Drummond.
Model Ebonee Davis, wearing a knockout red dress made by Becca McCharen of Chromat, remarked, “This is my first time at Paris Fashion Week and it’s so refreshing to see emerging designers here in Paris. As an up and coming model, it’s so incredible to collaborate with my peers and be here to support them, while they also support me.”
The camaraderie in the room was palpable as international names such as Erdem and Olivier Rousteing joined to celebrate their friends from across the pond. Aurora James, creative director of Brother Vellies, was feeling the familial vibes “This is like my extended family,” James said. “Everyone at Americans in Paris went through the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund together and it’s so amazing to be back here together.”
As current CVFF finalist Adam Selman gave a huge hug to Gigi Hadid, who was dressed in his sequin frock, Karlie Kloss snapped a selfie with the designer of her lace ensemble, Ryan Roche.
The party continued well past its official end time and the fashionable family headed home, no doubt to get some shut eye for the first day of the showroom.
The Americans in Paris designers’ collections will be on view at Pavillion Etoile through Monday evening.
