Carolyn Bessette’s Love Story with Selima Optique’s “The Aldo”

February 25, 2026

Those of us who have been obsessing over Ryan Murphy’s “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette” on Hulu have been wondering just who was behind the sunglasses favored by Bessette. Look no further than Selima Optique designer and CFDA member Selima Salaun, who had created the famous design named “The Aldo.”

From March 6-8, the original prototype for these sunglasses will be exclusively on display at Le Petit Musée de Lunettes, an immersive vintage eyewear museum at luxury eyewear trade show and cultural platform Eyecon at The Glasshouse NYC.

It is part of Selima Optique’s upcoming Le Petit Musée de Lunettes vintage eyewear museum and retail experience from Friday to Sunday, March 6–8, 2026 at The Glasshouse NYC.

Curated by Salaun, the debut installation will also feature rare vintage eyewear she collected over the years from luxury houses, independent designers, and fashion-history treasures – with some pieces from the designer’s archival collection available for purchase.

Adjacent to the archive are current looks and pieces from collaborations with June Ambrose, for example.

“Le Petit Musée de Lunettes is my personal love letter to eyewear,” Salaun said. “Each frame carries a memory of a moment, a place, or a person who inspired me. Sharing them at Eyecon feels like inviting the industry into the world that shaped my vision.”
