By any Other Name made a quiet launch this week with a curated selection of soft silhouettes and neutral colors, all delivered with a discreet sensibility. Such understatement would seem far less daring if we didn’t know the woman who is behind it: Rosie Assoulin.
The winner of the a 2015 CFDA Emerging Talent award and Womenswear Designer of the Year nominee for the CFDA Awards in June has won the hearts of women everywhere with her masterful use of colors and sculptural silhouettes. She is the go-to designer for those who wish to make an elevated style statement – think oversize sleeves, ruffles, and bows. With her new venture, the designer is taking more of an everyday approach.
Formed in collaboration with husband and brand CEO Max Assoulin, By any Other Name celebrates the everyday wardrobe without losing any of the character one has come to expect from Assoulin. The line is comprised of elevated basics, including a sharply tailored blazer dress, an oversized white tunic, and simple button-down skirts that exude practicality. Hints of her signature flair shine through in small accents of color and volume, but this take is more reserved.
Also notable is Assoulin’s decision show the collections during summer and winter- off the regular fashion week schedule – and adopting a direct-to-consumer approach with the addition of select retail partners. Click through the gallery to view the full collection.
