It may have been a veiled reference to our first Madame Vice President or all the inspiring women in leadership positions in the collection statement. Either way, Mohapatra expressed “hope and optimism” because of the presence of such modern-day muses. And in his book, they like to dress up! Referencing fruitful artist-muse alliances such as Harlem renaissance magic between A’Lelia Walker and Langston Hughes or Gustave Klimt and Emily Flöge, he dabbled in a fin de siècle vibe for column gowns and a graphic, jeweled, gold crystal embroidered guipure dress – adding modern touches here and there, such as a chic vegan leather coat. “We celebrate those female muses and their influence on the works of many successful artists and writers who became immortal through their body of work,” Mohapatra offered.
