Banana Republic has launched a limited-edition capsule with Zankov, the New York-based label founded by CFDA member Henry Zankov, who is known for masterfully mixing color, pattern and texture. The 27-piece collection reflects both brands’ approach to craft and detail, offering unexpected pieces designed to be worn for years.
Spanning menswear, womenswear and accessories, the collection features brushed cashmere, proprietary wool yarns, premium leathers, and engineered plaids. Relaxed proportions and universal sizing allow the pieces to work together as one wardrobe.
“This collaboration with Banana Republic is really an exploration of the visual language I’ve developed through my work, brought together with the brand’s rich sense of craft and heritage. The pieces were created with a spirit of playfulness, but with an enduring, timeless quality,” Zankov said.
Highlights include the Auden sweater in vivid brushed-cashmere stripes, the Sasha cardigan in navy and pistachio, and the Frankie polo with a malachite green placket. Zankov also explored the Banana Republic archives, drawing on a 1986 style for the Helene leather and suede pencil skirt and adding a signature stripe detail to the Mateo burgundy leather bomber.
“From the beginning, we saw an opportunity to reinterpret Banana Republic’s codes through ZANKOV’s approach to color and texture. We brought together two distinct points of view, grounded in heritage, craftsmanship and creativity,” said Meena Anvary, Chief Marketing Officer, Banana Republic.
The accompanying campaign, “Future Heirlooms,” pairs photography by Andrew Jacobs with commissioned works by Belgian artist Katrien de Blauwer. An anthem video features Zankov reflecting on the tactile and nostalgic references behind the collection.
The collection is priced from $90 to $600 USD and is available now at select Banana Republic stores and BananaRepublic.com.
