The official post-2016 CFDA Fashion Awards celebrations began downtown at Samsung 837 pretty much after Jennifer Hudson hit her last note. Mia Moretti deejayed alongside her friend and creative collaborator Liza Voloshin. “Such an amazing night,” said Moretti, “But now it’s time for a dance.”
Revelers included Jonathan Simkhai, Jourdan Dunn, Ciara, Lorraine Schwartz, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Nicole Miller, Richard Lambertson, Alessandra Ambrosio, Nadja Swarovski, Ansel Elgort, Prabal Gurung, and J.Crew president and Jenna Lyons. Earlier in the evening, Samsung hosted an exclusive Livestream viewing party at the venue.
“The best part of tonight was by far hearing Norma Kamali speak,” said deejay, Off-White creative director and Kanye West collaborator Virgil Abloh. “Fifty years in fashion, can you believe that? Most people we think of have been around for like fifteen – fifty is insane. Being at the show tonight was so cool. It really means a lot for people to come together and feel a part of something.”
Later in the night, some partygoers trickled over to the Top of the Standard. Jillian Hervey, better known as Lion Babe, danced up a storm. “I went up to Beyoncé tonight and told her I was so proud of her,” she said. “Then she looked at me and said it back, that she was proud of me.” “So guess who had the best night ever?” said Adam Selman, whose date Hervey was. “This one!”
Rachel Zoe and husband Rodger Berman cozied up on one of the banquettes, as did Christian Siriano, his partner Brad Walsh and their friends Alicia Silverstone and Selma Blair. “I can’t believe Christian brought my two favorite Nineties icons,” said a partygoer.
But that’s the thing about fashion. It brings people together.
