This April, Swarovski unveiled Atelier Swarovski Home, a new crystal home décor collection bearing the fruits of collaborations with design icons such as Daniel Libeskind, Ron Arad, Tord Boontje, and the late Zaha Hadid, as well as Aldo Bakker, Fredrikson Stallard, Kim Thomé, Raw Edges, and Tomás Alonso.
Those who didn’t get to Milan’s Salone Del Mobile fair to view the exquisite creations get a second opportunity: From May 14-18, the collection will be on display at a space on Howard Street, during ICFF, the showcase for global contemporary design at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York.
The creations are varied, featuring a mix of centerpieces and home accessories made of marble, metals and resins. This being Swarovski, there are plenty of crystals, some rendered in via groundbreaking techniques such as crystal printing and the Wave Cut, featuring, as its name suggests, crystals in curved forms. Case in point, Libeskind, who designed a chess set using the technique for the chess set pieces along with silver, marble and aluminum, among other materials. Arad, meanwhile, created crystal digits, letters and bookends. “We are delighted to be collaborating once again with so many incredible creative talents on these beautiful objects for the home,” said Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board. “This is a natural evolution for Atelier Swarovski and a great opportunity to showcase the art of crystal cutting in a range of designs and forms.”
