Area Couture Spring 2021

2020 has forced many designers to rethink their business, with many leaning more heavily into offerings that suit our current lifestyles, ie. sweatpants, athleisure, and tracksuits. For their Spring 2021 collection, Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszcyzk of Area are embracing a different, fabulous approach.

For Spring 2021, the designers unveiled the first couture collection for their label Area. Known for a high glamour approach to fashion and affinity for anything that sparkles or shines, the collection is an organic extension of the avant-garde aesthetic the NYC-based brand is known for.

“With this Couture collection, we want to showcase our ability and dedication to creating beauty by hand. Every look in this collection has been developed over an extensive time of six months, and has been an ongoing collaboration between our studio in New York and our embroidery partners in India/globally. We are proud of all the hands that where involved in creating every single look, craft truly comes to fruition through a collaborative community and passion,” the designers said in a joint statement.

Inspired by ancient civilizations and body adornments, with signature crystal embellishments (provided by Swarovski) and innovative silhouettes, the concise line honors the heritage of couture while bringing a modern perspective. Featured models Precious Lee and Yasmin Wijnaldum prove that couture can be worn by women of all sizes in a visual campaign masterfully shot by Ned Rogers. With their debut, the designers reinforce their belief that fashion should be an opportunity to create pieces that are timeless, treasured works of art that speak to the heart.
