Anna Sui Spring-Summer Look 1

Anna Sui has spent most of her time inside during since the pandemic’s outbreak – more than she ever has since childhood. Like so many of us, this has made her reevaluate the meaning of home. The way she put it in her collection statement, it is about “comfort, security, the smells of delectable meals and desserts being made with care, the space to think about what is happening in the world and the people I love.” It’s a meaningful sentiment which led to the beautiful “Heartland” lineup that was homespun in spirit and sweet-as-pie (which, in fact, was served as the beginning of Sui’s delightful short film).

Inspired by depression era watercolors of Charles Burchfield and French Impressionist painter Berthe Morisot, she delivered a charming riff on clothes that exuded comfort without forsaking style and Sui’s irreverent brand of American cool. Sui offered pinafore, lace, and negligée maxi dresses, and embellished sweaters. Teva sandals added to the vibe. It all had a DIY touch to bring the right amount of joy to the home.
