Brides-to-be or fashion lovers looking for reasons to wear a new white dress are in for a treat.
SSENSE, the Montreal-based high fashion retailer, is launching its second bridal capsule collection with over 100 items from 17 emerging and established designers, including CFDA members Anna Sui, Hillary Taymour of Collina Strada and Emily Adams Bode Aujla of Bode. Past CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist Vaquera and New York Fashion Week darling Sandy Liang are also included.
Highlights include Anna Sui’s iconic babydoll silhouette as seen on Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista in the brand’s spring 1994 collection finale, Collina Strada’s all-white take on her Meadowsweet dress featured in this year’s Costume Institute’s Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, and Bode’s signature brand sensibility on an ivory tulle harbor gown.
The ‘anti-Bridal’ capsule offers dresses, gowns, suits, shoes, veils and accessories, which has also expanded to include bridesmaid’s and flower girls.
“The SSENSE audience is young – in age but also at heart, it’s a state of mind,” says Brigitte Chartrand, vice president of womenswear buying and Everything Else for SSENSE. “We saw bridal as an opportunity to apply our unique, and perhaps more exciting point of view to an otherwise traditional market. We curated a group of designers who we felt could be discovered in new or surprising ways through our initial launch.”
The capsule collection launches on ssense.com and the SSENSE Mobile App on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
