Life-size bears, boars and bugs are among the star attractions at famed Left Bank taxidermy destination Deyrolle, but on Friday night, they got some heavy competition. The occasion: an intimate gathering to celebrate this year’s group of Americans in Paris designers. Hosted by Greg Chait, Jennifer Meyer and Selby Drummond, Deyrolle provided a chic backdrop to this fashion crowd, which couldn’t help but admire the animals on display.
“I have always wanted one of these for my apartment,” said Matthew Orley, gently stroking a stuffed Reeve’s Muntjac.
Eva Zuckerman was more enamored with the flamingos. “I just love them,” the Eva Fehren designer told Ryan Roche before pulling her fellow American in Paris into one of the back salons to show her the species.
Also roaming the spaces were Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge, Devon Windsor, Emilia Clarke, Coco Rocha, Jonathan and Lizzie Tisch, Leandra Medine, Jennifer Fisher and Pamela Love. Simon Miller’s Daniel Corrigan felt right at home in these environs.
“I grew up around this my dad collects taxidermy so it doesn’t faze me,” he said. “I came here years ago to buy a giant boar head with my him.”
By the end of the evening, Deyrolle had even made a sale. “I call my boyfriend love bug,” said Gigi Gurris, “so I got him this beautiful ceramic plate with a bug etched on it.”
This edition of Americans in Paris, proudly underwritten by Tumi, features Gigi Burris, Eva Fehren, Edie Parker, Simon Miller, Tanya Taylor, Ryan Roche, Grey Ant and Orley. The showroom is open to retailers, buyers and editors from Oct.3-5 at Le 8 Valois.
