The 2022 Met Gala brought out a flood of American looks – more so than in any year in recent history. It makes sense, given the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s second part of the exhibition, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” which highlighted the vast range of historical looks that define American fashion.
With the ‘Gilded Glamour’ theme, stars drew out their best fashions inspired by iconic moments in American fashion history. Newcomers like Sydney Sweeney donned a special corseted white gown by Tory Burch, while fashion veterans like Sarah Jessica Parker wore an extravagant creation from Christopher John Rogers. As expected, Kim Kardashian (on the arm of her new beau Pete Davidson) made the biggest statement, wearing the iconic Marilyn Monroe ‘Happy Birthday’ gown in the flesh – a true piece of American fashion history.
