It was a great and successful New York Fashion Week – and on Wednesday evening, as shows concluded, Alina Cho and Genesis House celebrated the week’s success with a fabulous dinner at the Meatpacking District destination.
A slew of high-profile designers turned out for Cho’s Dinner Series, including Rosie Assoulin, Francisco Costa, Alejandra Alonso Rojas, Thakoon Panichgul, Batsheva Hay, Adam Lippes, Brett Heyman, Frederick Anderson, and George Sotelo. Cho was also joined for the occasion by Jordan Roth and Richie Jackson, Princess Deena Ali Al-Juhani Abdulaziz, Indre Rockefeller, Marc Metrick, Ali Slatkin, and Charlotte Groeneveld, to name a few.
Cho, who was named the recipient of the CFDA’s Media Award the following day, congratulated the crowd for making it through the week.
“I didn’t have as many outfit changes as Jordan Roth, but I had my fair share!” she said. “As CFDA chairman Thom Browne said the other night at Gracie Mansion — ‘Pressure is a Privilege’ — in the words of Billie Jean King. And I know the designers at this table know exactly what I’m talking about. I can’t IMAGINE the pressure you’re under… presenting a new collection to the world. Michael Kors always says it’s like birthing a baby, or so he hears.”
Thanking Genesis House for hosting the evening, she pointed to the new menu inspired by Korean Royal cuisine with recipes dating back 1,000 years.
“I grew up at a time — sadly — when it was not cool to be Korean,” Cho said, “but now — all you have to do is look at shows like Squid Game, movies like Parasite and bands like BTS — and it is abundantly clear, it has never been cooler to be Korean.”
Indeed – and Alina majorly adds to that cool factor.
