it’s a privilege to write to you ahead of another new york fashion week…
to once again celebrate the work we’ve been creating…
at a time when we can come together to showcase these stories to the world…
a group of individuals so unique… so diverse… and so talented…
but collectively and creatively representing the greatness america has to offer…
a privilege that doesn’t come without the pressure of the world…
and the pressure we put upon ourselves…
seeing the olympics reminded me of the determination i see in all of you…
the strive for excellence and greatness to show that we’re the best at what we do…
to bring our stories to life through moments that are so personal to us…
and to leave an impact on anyone willing to notice…
but now more than ever we must use these stories to make people question…
to imagine things in new ways… and create conversations that spark change…
to take the platforms we’ve created and remind people of the inspiration we can bring to the world…
never sacrificing quality and creativity…
and it’s important to acknowledge the immense freedom we have to tell these stories….
a freedom that makes it all the more important to be true to ourselves…
and show our most honest work… and tell our most honest and provocative stories…
so go for the gold…
but don’t be afraid to get silver…
or bronze…
because creativity should represent greatness…
and greatness is relative…
done in our own way… through our own stories… on our own terms…
but always at the highest level…
