May 16, 2019

With Barbie receiving the distinct honor of the prestigious Board of Directors’ Tribute for her unquestionable influence in the fashion industry, we revisit our favorite fashion collaborations over the years.

Her impact is undeniable, from Kacey Musgraves arriving at the Met Gala as a life-sized Barbie on top of a pink convertible to collaborations with to Karl Lagerfeld and CFDA Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg.

Take a look!

Barbie x Moschino, 2015

The Spring-Summer 2015 runway collection by designer Jeremy Scott was inspired by ‘80s and ‘90s Barbies.

Barbie x Karl Lagerfeld, 2014

When the legendary designer and photographer was recreated as a Barbie for his signature look, the Mattel doll quickly sold out – and resold on eBay for nearly four times the price. Lagerfeld also shot a special collection of Barbie photos, with model Baptiste Giabiconi as a real-live Ken doll.

Barbie x Diane von Furstenberg, 2007

The CFDA Chairwoman was transformed into her very own custom Barbie replete with her iconic black hair and signature wrap dress.

Barbie x Coach, 2013

When Barbie teamed up with the fashion house for her very own signature red leather Coach Classic Duffle bag, the collaboration sold out in only seven days.

Barbie x M•A•C, 2007

Barbie broke records for the Estee Lauder Companies as the face and cover model for her exclusive line of products with M•A•C Cosmetics.

Barbie x Vogue Italia, 2010

The special issue of Italian Vogue was a celebration of diversity, featuring 22 Black Barbies dolls dressed by legendary Vogue stylists. The groundbreaking dolls were later auctioned off at Christie’s for cancer research.
