Welcome to the CFDA Board, Dao-Yi Chow!

November 2, 2017

Marc Karimzadeh

Dao-Yi Chow, a CFDA Member since 2013, joined the CFDA Board of Directors this fall. To mark the occasion, we asked the designer, who co-founded Public School with Maxwell Osborne, about his goals for the board and the future of American fashion.

We’re thrilled to have you serve on the CFDA board. What are you looking forward to the most?

Working alongside the other board members to push CFDA’s relevancy into a new era of fashion.

Do you have specific personal goals in this role? What do you hope to accomplish on the board?

To gain some knowledge from the other board members…to hopefully push the idea of fashion’s role in sustainability to the forefront.

Do you recall when you became a CFDA Member and how that moment felt?

It was 2013 and we had just won the CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear. We were already over the moon from the awards and then found out that we automatically became members for winning. It all seemed like a dream.

What does being on the board mean to you and the stage in your career as a designer?

I’m really proud to be able to help serve on the CFDA board. The CFDA has done so much for my career and supported my company throughout the last seven years, and now I have the opportunity to help others just like me.
