“Welcome Ralph’s Club,” Eric, the head of the 10-piece Jazz combo announced. “You can drink, dine and, a little bit later on, you can dance the night way.” It was the perfect premise for a major fashion week moment.

On Saturday night, Ralph Lauren transformed a space on Wall Street into the club of New York dreams – past, present, and future. Lauren tapped into his cinematic vision and brought to life a fabulous nightclub. The dress code – black and white evening attire; the decor – black-and-white Art Deco; the drinks – Dry Martinis; the food – corned beef sandwiches; the vibe – pure glamour.

Marlene Dietrich would have loved it. Guests like Indya Moore, Henry Golding, Cate Blanchett, and A$AP Ferg certainly did, along with editors and Lauren’s top clients who could shop the fall clothes immediately.

Speaking of the fashion, it was just as impressive as the setting. Gigi Hadid opened the show in a Marlene number, setting up the designer’s chic riffs on tuxedo dressing. For evening, Mr. Lauren delivered some of stunning slinky numbers that did not hold back on elegance and glamour.

Then came Janelle Monáe, who worked the room with classic Sinatra numbers – think Let’s Face the Music and Dance and Fly Me to the Moon – jumped on tables, and slinked along the floor, bringing the house down. “Ralph Lauren is the most amazing designer we have,” she exhaled. That’s right.

We’re just under four months away from entering the 20s – 2020 that is. If this coming decade is anything like the 20s of the last century as viewed the eyes of Mr.Lauren on this memorable evening, then sign us up!
