Empowerment. We know it’s the key ingredient to heralding tangible change – and so does Prabal Gurung. Through his work, the designer has always used his fashion voice to spread positivity, encourage representation and diversity, and address social issue.
On Monday, he unveiled his new socially-minded lifestyle brand with a series of chic masks available at Walmart.com. He named the brand iMPOWER. It’s the ultimate affirmative.
“I have always believed that everyone, no matter who they are or the size of their platform, has the ability to make a change in this world once they access their inner strength and self-worth,” Gurung said. “Once we learn to step into our greatness, there is nothing we can’t achieve. This fervent belief is what inspired iMPOWER, a new socially-minded lifestyle brand, anchored in philanthropy, that places a focus on intention, hope, and positivity.”
His $14 iMPOWER face masks come in four bold prints – reinforcing, as he put it, the idea protection should be available and accessible to all. Each collection comes with a philanthropic component he coined “iMPOWER impact” – the inaugural one benefitting the CDC Foundation’s Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund,
“I created this brand in order to offer democratized collections to audiences across diverse markets through strategic retail partnerships, with the mission to build community, spark important dialogues, and inspire strength,” Gurung offered.
“As both a designer and entrepreneur, I have always used my voice to create change and progress by supporting my community and amplifying important conversations around global issues,” he added. “I created this brand to build a community and engage in a dialogue with new audiences. I look forward to sharing my message of unity and hope through uplifting and ‘iMPOWERing’ collections.”
