Shondaland, the storytelling company founded by Shonda Rhimes, is behind such series as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and, of course, the salacious, delicious “Bridgerton.” The company just launched its new Seat at the Table programs to partner with creatives and “offer fans authentic and elevated consumer goods to extend their on-screen experiences.”
The first one is between CFDA member Monica Rich Kosann and Bridgerton’s costume designer Ellen Mirojnick, who collaborated on a fine jewelry collection inspired by Bridgerton’s romantic, vintage vibe – from “Queen” poesy rings to “bee” charms and a locket with heart-shaped vine detailing – all available in 18-karat gold with white diamonds or sterling silver with white sapphires.
Rich Kosann loves everything about Bridgerton – “the costumes, colors, and jewelry!” she said. “Ellen is a brilliant costume designer and I love the world she created.
“Ellen and I decided on three distinctly different pieces to start, and each one pays tribute to the characters,” Rich Kosann said. “When you watch the show, there are so many layers. The ribbons, blouses, dresses, jackets and of course jewelry are there to add to the character’s traits. Jewelry is so important to the story and vibe of the show. It was just a natural extension!”
The 18-karat pieces range in price from $815 to $3,250, while the sterling silver ones retail from $160 to $685. They’re available at www.monicarichkosann.com as well as the designer’s New York City retail locations at Columbus Circle and Hudson Yards.
Mirojnick added, “Monica is a brilliant designer. I have always loved her aesthetic and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with her. The jewelry mirrors the essence of Bridgerton’s style. The interpretation of elegance using beautiful materials that are both modern with a twist of character. I can see Queen Charlotte wearing the queen poesy ring on each finger or wearing the ring as a stackable. I can see our bee charm on a bracelet being worn by Francesca, or even the bee charm on the watch fob chain holding Colin’s pocket watch. I can also see the locket being given as a gift to Penelope.”
All of which begs the question, what would Lady Whistledown make of the collection in her infamous Society Papers? We can’t wait to find out!
