Bob Mackie has dressed many legends – Madonna, Tina Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Diana Ross, Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler, and Carol Burnett among them. But there’s one special relationship that withstood the test of time. When Mackie met Cher in 1967 on The Carol Burnett Show, for which he designed the costumes, the two became instant BFFs and they’ve been inseparable since. Mackie is the mastermind behind some of Cher’s greatest looks, from her 1985 Oscars gown complete with a feathered headdress to the infamous “naked dress” from the early 1970s.
