In celebration of Earth Month, the CFDA continues its partnership with DHL and held The Logistics of Going Green Master Class last week to introduce resources and tools for companies to improve supply chain transparency and reduce carbon emissions.

The conversation was led by two experts from DHL Express: Ryan Hunter, Vice President of Global Customers, and Joao Meneghetti, Manager of Sustainability & Clean Operations. The DHL team kicked off the webinar with an overview of DHL’s notable achievements in environmental protection and clean operations and highlighted their commitment to target zero emissions by 2050. Meneghetti discussed DHL’s various forms of sustainable transportation e.g., electric tractor-trailer vehicles, electric eCargo planes, and cargo bikes etc. which they outlined is beneficial for brands to know as they speak to their consumers about the various ways their supply chain partners are advancing sustainability.

Meneghetti expanded upon DHL GoGreen services, a portfolio of resources and tools to help designers assess their business’s environmental practices. One of the key resources discussed were Carbon Reports, a reporting feature that monitors and analyzes your DHL shipment’s carbon footprint so companies can make changes to reduce it. The DHL team also introduced the Positive Fashion Health Check, a tool to help clients identify areas of improvement around sustainability in their supply chain and business. Lastly, Meneghetti introduced the Fashion & Environment White Paper, developed in collaboration with the British Fashion Council and NGO Julie’s Bicycle to address the environmental impacts of the global fashion industry. Additionally, the CFDA and DHL announced the continuation of the DHL Office Hours, which provide designers with the opportunity to speak directly with the DHL team to address more specific questions regarding their supply chains and businesses. Topics can be determined by the designer’s team, but past areas of focus have included imports and exports, duties and taxes, customs clearance, cross-border e-commerce, and more. The DHL Office Hours are currently available only for CFDA Members and Interim Members, but please reach out to CFDA@dhl.com to connect with DHL’s team for future opportunities.

DHL has served as CFDA’s Official Logistics Partner since 2017 and is committed to helping our members expand their businesses globally.
