CFDA & Susanne Bartsch Present Love Ball III

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Susanne Bartsch joined forces to bring LOVE BALL III to New York City’s Gotham Hall on June 25, 2019.

In 1989 and 1991, Susanne Bartsch, legendary event producer and fundraiser, presented The Love Ball at Roseland Ballroom in NYC. The benefit blended high fashion and celebrities with the ballroom community from Paris Dupree’s drag houses in Harlem.

Love Balls I and II funded over $2.5 million to programs for those affected by HIV/AIDS and was organized and produced by the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA). Love Ball III proceeds raised by the CFDA Foundation will benefit the CFDA-Vogue Initiative/New York City AIDS Fund of The New York Community Trust.

Billy Porter, the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning actor, singer, director, composer and playwright, and star of Pose on FX, served as the ball’s Master of Ceremonies.

The evening was made possible by the generous support of corporate sponsors including M·A·C Cosmetics.

On the heels of World Pride 2019, the CFDA and Susanne Bartsch revive the iconic Love Ball

Susanne Bartsch

Susanne Bartsch is a legendary New York City event producer and fundraiser, who founded The Love Ball in 1989. “It’s the 30th anniversary of The Love Ball, which I created to celebrate life, to show support for people living with HIV, and to unite people to fight AIDS,” Susanne Bartsch said. “It’s the most important fight I ever fought. While much progress has been made since, the disease continues to disproportionately affect underserved communities. The fight continues.”

Billy Porter

Billy Porter is Love Ball III’s Master of Ceremonies. Known to Broadway fans as the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning star of Kinky Boots for creating the role of “Lola”. Since unlacing the famous red boots, Porter released an album entitled “The Soul of Richard Rodgers” and starred as the role of “Pray Tell” on the Ryan Murphy-helmed FX television series “POSE,” for which he received Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award nominations. He most recently appeared on the acclaimed FX series “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” as “Behold Chablis.” Later this summer, he will appear in the feature film The Big Break, alongside Tiffany Haddish, Salma Hayek, and Rose Byrne.
