Talk about a nice jumpstart into the fashion world.
On Tuesday, the CFDA and Accessories Council awarded $90,000 to the six fellows of the inaugural Elaine Gold Launch Pad program, which supports early emerging designers from 0-3 years.
“Tonight, we are here to honor the six fellows who have gone through the inaugural program and presented their venture blueprints –embedding the values of innovation, technology and sustainability in their business models,” Steven Kolb, President and CEO of the CFDA said. “They have all demonstrated incredible progress and it was a really tough decision for us to make.”
Launch Pad’s program pillars are innovation, technology and sustainability. The prizes were based on presentations at NeueHouse earlier in the day. The inaugural cohort was asked to develop a 360 design x business view into the future and to blueprint viable strategies that include new thinking about how they make, sell, value, and tell the story of their vision as well as how their ventures contribute to the ecosystem of fashion.
The criteria was based on overall vision, viability and potential.
Lucy Jones of Ffora took home $40,000. Ali Rose, Jack Burns and Mark Richardson of Genusee were awarded $20,000. Emily Adams Bode of Bode New York and Maria Kazakova of Jahnkoy received $10,000 each, while Alexis Isabel and Jameel Mohammed of Khiry won $5,000 each.
The Final Selection Committee consisted of Accessories Council’s Karen Giberson, CFDA’s Steven Kolb and Sara Kozlowski, Leila Larijani of UBS, Bergdorf Goodman’s Bruce Pask, Kate Daly from Closed Loop Partners, Matt Scanlan of Soft Matter, PVH Corp.’s Melanie Steiner, and Shinola’s Richard Lambertson.
“Congratulations, and the CFDA and Accessories Council look forward to continuing to support this talent,” said Kolb, “as they make their mark on our industry.”
