The Latest on NYFW: Women’s

August 17, 2015

HOT OFF THE PRESSES: Jason Wu is moving the time of his show to 11 am. He was previously scheduled to present his spring-summer 2016 collection during his usual 1 pm timeslot.

Also for this season only, Altuzarra is showing at 5 pm on Saturday, Sept. 12. Designer Joseph Altuzarra is moving from his usual 8 pm time slot, while Alexander Wang, who is celebrating his 10th anniversary, is unveiling his Spring-Summer 2016 collection at 9 pm that evening with a party following the show. A similar switch happened in 2014 when Wang chose to stage his show at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, thus opting for the last slot of the day.

New York Fashion Week: Women’s takes place Sept.9-17. This season, there have been more changes to CFDA’s Fashion Calendar, which serves as the official schedule for NYFW: Women’s.

The most-buzzed about addition takes place at the week’s front end: Givenchy, one of the hottest tickets on the Paris schedule, is showing in Gotham on Friday, Sept.11 at 6:30 pm – word is that it’s timed to sunset. The show is also timed to the introduction of the Givenchy New York flagship store at 747 Madison Avenue. Expect die-hard fans such as Kanye West Kim Kardashian West to grace Givenchy artistic director Riccardo Tisci’s New York front row.

Equally anticipated is the debut of Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne at DKNY . That show has typically taken place at 1 pm on the Sunday of NYFW: Women’s; this season, it’s scheduled for Wednesday, Sept.16 at 3 pm – DKNY is expected to hold on to that new time slot. Meanwhile, Mayiet, which has shown in Paris in the past, will show here for the first time on Monday, Sept. 14 at 4pm.

Donna Karan Collection is no longer on the schedule as the label has closed down, nor is Marc by Marc Jacobs, which is being incorporated into Marc Jacobs Collection, which closes NYFW: Women’s on Sept.17 .
