Emerging talents, take note!

The CFDA and Vogue launched the application process for the 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (CVFF). The application is open through Wednesday, March 15.

This year, the Fashion Fund will return to its original competition format with one winner and two-runners up receiving monetary prize as well as meaningful business mentorships and a pathway to success.

“This February’s shows in New York were a testament to the fabulous creativity, spirit and ingenuity of a new generation of American designers, and I can’t wait to meet the talents who will be our Fashion Fund class of 2023,” Anna Wintour, Chief Content Officer, Condé Nast, and Global Editorial Director, Vogue, said.

“We are witnessing a generational shift in American fashion with an exciting group of young designers who, through their work, powerfully address the time and culture we live in,” CFDA CEO Steven Kolb said. “As CFDA and Vogue embark on the 19th edition of the Fashion Fund, we look forward to further shape the future and continued success of the fashion industry.”

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund was established after 9/11 to help emerging designers and cultivate the next generation of American fashion talent. Since its inception, 180 designers have received mentoring and a total of more than $7.7 million. In 2021, the format had evolved to address the challenges the American fashion industry was facing, granting funds to all finalists and personal mentorship with industry leaders based on designated areas of need.

Designers eligible to apply must be in business for a minimum of 2 years. Their primary business must be based in the United States, should have no more than thirty full-time employees, and not exceed a total revenue of 10 million dollars per year.

The 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund is generously supported by Afterpay, Instagram, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Vogue.

The members of the 2023 Selection Committee are Anna Wintour, Mark Holgate, and Chioma Nnadi of Vogue, Steven Kolb of the CFDA, Aurora James of Brother Vellies and the Fifteen Percent Pledge, Roopal Patel of Saks Fifth Avenue, Eva Chen of Instagram, Sam Lobban of Nordstrom, model and activist Paloma Elsesser, Nick Molnar of Afterpay and The Next Generation, and designer and CFDA chairman Thom Browne.
