CFDA member Diego Binetti is back in the Hamptons. After a successful run at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach, the designer is making his grand return to Sag Harbor just in time for the summer season to showcase then newest LOVE Binetti collection. The concept store in Sag Harbor is a continuing partnership showcasing other fine artisan perfumes and fine jewelry brands for a head-to-toe look.
The collection, filled with delicate embroideries and romantic floral prints, is the perfect option for Hamptonites looking for a fabulous summer outfit. To celebrate the launch, we caught up with the designer to hear more about the store.
How does it feel to be back in Sag Harbor, and why did you want to make a return to this location?
Being back to Sag Harbor feels like we have returned to our second home after having an incredible season at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach. During the winter we loved seeing our beautiful clients down south and seeing them once again here in the east end, it really fills our hearts with joy. We fell in love with Sag Harbor, this village by the sea, on first sight and we related to this community and its wonderful history.
How would you describe the look and feel of this store, and this particular LOVE Binetti collection?
The “Concept” store, as we describe it, is a place where our clients can feel good, scouting unique pieces and most of all feel special while they are shopping. The overall look of the décor designed by my life partner, of pastel hues portray natural light and serenity in the room. This season we went all out and took inspiration from old Greek villages by covering the façade of the building with bougainvillea flowers sharing that colorful moment and feeling with our Sag Harbor community and guests.
What woman did you have in mind while designing the collection?
What unites all the inspiration and elements in the collection and the muses that have inspired them is the relevance and impact they have in how we view fashion today. The desire to be unique and to have an established point of view, whether it is in fashion, cultural leanings or sense of self is a resounding theme.
What are some of your favorite elements of the store?
Some key elements of the store are our current SS22 collection include tiered flowing dresses, romantic puff and poet sleeves, printed chemise dresses, patchwork silk kaftans and playful mix matched gingham dresses. There’s also an excellent curated selection by Kim Van-Dang of fine artisan perfumes like: Van Dang Fragrances, Coqui-Coqui, Veronique Gabai, Maison la Bougie, BDK to mention few. As well as another very exiting summer alliance with the pop-up of The Seven West Village owned by Camille Zarsky with a selection of fine jewelry by Emily P. Wheeler, Sorelina, Jenna Blake, Eva Fehren, Melissa Kaye, and many other exclusive brands.
How will you be spending the summer?
My life partner and I will be spending our summer sailing on our beautiful sailboat “Stellina” that we keep in Shelter Island, surrounded by nature and discovering beautiful hidden coves. In mid-July we are hoping to visit Spetses and Hydra, two beautiful Greek islands, where we will be showing our SS22 and Resort 22 collection to an international clientele. We are looking forward to the summer season enjoying every moment of LIFE, which in the end is the most import thing! Enjoy your summer and come by to visit us.
