BLACK HISTORY MONTH

28 Black Fashion Forces: Virgil Abloh

February 2, 2019

Karyl J. Truesdale

Virgil Abloh for Off-White and his kaleidoscope of collaborations brought a fresh, minimalistic, and artistic approach to fashion – and a new wave of excitement. Virgil broke barriers as one of the very few black designers to helm a major European fashion house, as Men’s Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton. His well thought-out collections, represented with attention to specific design details, are now among fashion’s most highly anticipated and coveted designs.

Editor’s Note: In honor of Black History Month, we highlight some of the most influential forces in fashion, in no specific order. Their impact on the culture is undeniable – and we use this time to tip our hats off to their Black excellence.
