February 4, 2021

“The chief mission statement of the CFDA since its inception in 1962 has been to promote American fashion both domestically and abroad,” CFDA Chairman Tom Ford wrote in his letter to the fashion industry last week. “Now more than ever this is one of our primary goals.”

With the industry’s needs and subsequent strategies changing, the CFDA is proud to present the inaugural American Collections Calendar, which includes all American designers wherever or however they choose to show. New York Fashion Week provides the core of this new calendar.

The American Collections season is shaping up to be the right mix of emerging and established. Zero + Maria Cornejo is kicking it off today. In addition to Tom Ford, Carolina Herrera, Altuzarra, and Thom Browne, there are several noteworthy rising talents including Bed on Water, Maisie Wilen, and Project Runway winner Geoffrey Mac. Kimberly Goldson and Negris LeBrum are also ones to watch.

Gabriela Hearst, Oscar de la Renta, Willy Chavarria, Tanya Taylor, Adam Lippes, Veronica Beard, No Sesso, Kevan Hall, and Rosetta Getty are back on the calendar, and Erin Beatty is presenting her sustainable collection Rentrayage.

Menswear designers, including Timo Weiland and APOTTS, will also show their new designs on CFDA’s RUNWAY360 digital platform via New York Men’s Day.
