When Shawn Mendes stepped out on the red carpet at the 2022 Met Gala, he wore an iconic upcycled suit from Tommy Hilfiger. Little did we know then that it was just a taste of what’s to come from the superstar and the superstar designer.
Today, Tommy Hilfiger announced the “Play it Forward” partnership with the Canadian singer-songwriter. The multifaceted collaboration kicks off with Mendes starring as the face of the Summer 2022 global campaign for the “Classics Reborn” collection, made fully from sustainable materials.
Additionally, for his Wonder: The World Tour, Mendes will wear more sustainable, custom-made Tommy Hilfiger styles. Hilfiger will also donate $1 million to the tour to help mitigate and offset the environmental impact of his tour.
“I’ve always been inspired by Tommy and the iconic brand he built, and I’m excited to share our journey together with my fans,” said Mendes. “Everyone has a role to play in creating a more sustainable future and I’m inspired to see what we can achieve. I look forward to learning from each other, exploring how creative reimagination can have a positive effect on the fashion industry, and sharing what living more sustainably means to me.”
The partnership with culminate with a co-designed capsule collection for Spring 2023, which will reimagine timeless style more sustainably through recycled and new material innovations, and circular design practices.
