Despite having a less than typical pathway into fashion, Sami Miró has managed to win over the hearts of the industry and consumers alike. Her unique penchant for reworking vintage clothing has jolted her business and is frequently endorsed by prominent celebrities like Selena Gomez and Kendall Jenner. Thanks to the power of social media, the CFDA Interim Member is one of the most exciting young designers.

Miró continues on an upward trajectory, as evidenced by her latest collaboration with Rosalía. The artist’s mega-stylist Jill Jacobs recently turned to Miró to design custom looks – doing not one, not two, but five major press appearances just this month.

“I’m so insanely lucky to get continuous support from many of the world’s most influential people – something I do not take for granted. That being said, there are a few icons out there who have yet to wear Sami Miró Vintage and Rosalía has been on the top of that list of mine,” said Miró. “Cut to her wearing SMV 5 times in 3 weeks!”

Here, Miró gives a  behind-the-scenes scoop on the whirlwind last month of creating looks for the superstar.

A few weeks ago I got a text from longtime friend and stylist, Jill Jacobs, with a screenshot she received from Rosalía of a look I posted on my Instagram in January. Jill told me Rosalía saw the photo and said this is what she must wear for her SNL performance. Her new album is titled “Motomami” and she felt that my XXL reworked vintage motorcycle jacket juxtaposed with my long red satin and lace vintage negligee and multi-layered leg warmers encompassed her vision perfectly.

I was wildly flattered that such a creative woman whom I admire was inspired by little ol’ me! All I heard was “Rosalía wants to wear Sami Miró Vintage for her Saturday Night Live Performance,” and that’s all I needed to know.

The next day, Jill and I met at my design studio where I pulled all my reworked vintage motorcycle jackets, negligees and other layerable pieces from my last collection.

Next thing I knew, Rosalía wore The Sami Miró Vintage Asymmetric One Shoulder Tank (made from our signature SMV Eucalyptus Rib) out to dinner with her boyfriend in NYC.

A couple days later, she wore The Asymmetric Raw Turtleneck in Mesh (made from up-cycled mesh) during her interview at Jimmy Fallon!

The next day she wore two Sami Miró Vintage looks at SNL: The first was one of my favorite reworked vintage pieces I made in 2018: a reconstructed black and white checkered motorcycle jacket. The second look was the original look she was inspired by on my Instagram for her performance of “Chicken Teriyaki.”

My team and I were ecstatic as we are all big time admirers of Rosalia. We thought that was the end of our run until she then posted a photo of launching her ‘Motomami’ album wearing one of my other favorite creations: A one of one reworked vintage red, black and white cropped motorcycle with vintage denim patchwork details.
