After the 2016 election, CFDA’s President and CEO Steven Kolb and Chairwoman Diane von Furstenberg had a meeting to discuss how we and the industry can address civic issues. The outcome: it is more crucial than ever to engage with organizations and focus on challenges that impact people including women, immigrants and people of color.
Around the time of the historic Women’s March, our members looked to CFDA for a leadership role in women’s empowerment and equality in the workplace. This encouraged us to spearhead, address, and initiate a study, and CFDA partnered with Glamour to develop it.
Now, CFDA is proud to unveil the results of the study here.
A main finding: there is no real challenge in the pipeline into the industry for women. The challenge, however, exists in awareness and in making the leap to the leadership level.
Based on the survey and interviews in the study, CFDA understands there is an industry-wide need to improve the awareness around gender inequality. We have come up with action items to address this. For more, keep checking CFDA.com.
